Traditional Leadership (Mis)Imperative

You understand the problems of Nigeria when you begin to wonder why the Ooni of Ife and the Sultan of Sokoto are the only Kings seated at the table alongside Mr. President and his VP.

What an outrage that the Tor Tiv, the king of the Tiv the 4/5th largest tribe and victim of terrorist attacks and and the Emir of Zazzau are standing when Mallam Kyari is seated.

Non strategic (my opinion) Igbos claim to be republicans and don't have a king, but where is the easily recognizable Obi of Onitsha, the king of the town where IPOB draws its core support and which always blocks the Niger bridge, the only bridge linking the north with the seemingly unimportant east and who is this Igbo H.R.M, I never heard of him before, is he there for just photo ops.

In finding solutions to Nigeria's calls for restructuring and the need for unity, why are the Kings of the SS republics that lay the golden goose and through whose lands the pipelines that fuel Nigeria not afforded equal respect and brought to the high table.

The government might think the Sultan is the go to guy to resolve the problems in the north but shouldn't the be dealing with the Shehu of Borno the king of the Kanuri who are the core rebel foot soldiers of Boko Harem a rebellion threatening the collective peace of Nigeria from their stronghold in the North East.

These pictures reveals a government operating Nigeria based on an outdated colonial model.

These pictures exposes a president still trapped in the past and not strategically sensitive to new political and emerging tribal realities with a view to ending separatist Agitation and solving Nigeria's growing tribal and economic problems.

Most importantly, these pictures expose the complete incompetence of Buhari's media and protocol team in allowing these photos to be taken and released for this event that is now drawing my ire, THE SHOULD be fired for incompetence and for this photo bomb and for not finding a venue with better seating arrangements for photo ops.

Bottom line is that nothing was achieved at this meeting. It was a complete waste of time and resources in the handouts (allowances) and various accommodations for these kings to attend this meeting, the most important who are not even preset.

Nigeria needs new leadership across the board.
